Midnight in a Perfect World

6am

She rolls over to kiss his forehead
Gentle pecks and sleight of hand to his promised land
His head is awake before his eyes
She is a canvas for her demand of his canonical glaze
In tune with his organ
The thump, thump bass of his heart is in sync
Yet he washes her with a leather embrace
Tipping her chin to perfect their symmetry
Probing each of her breaths with a waltzing touch to her thighs
A kiss like hot towel on a plane prises his eyes
And that….was the first time they’d met

9am

It had been baking moments ago yet he had not smelt the rain
Flashing eyes to this terrain felt like indecent exposure
Engines like rattle snakes slithered from town to town all around
Life forms from which he was like the edge of paper torn rolled
Snowballs and boulders migrated to where they saw fit
As he wiped the smog from his brain all he felt nothing
There he was lain foetal, undesirable as Kafka’s beetle
Spittle hanging from his lips like the annoying family member that outstayed their welcome
He seldom if ever had felt this pain
It suddenly shot like a rocket, mind moved yet body had no chance
See for the sake of unrequited romance
He’d been forced to square dance
She’d claim self defence of her black belt in I don’t want you
Sirens flashing, cash splashed about him, carnations scattered
Blood spattered, new suit in tatters
Was she alright was the only question that mattered
Yet she had gone and so were his plans
She’d done more than she’d needed to,
Delivering her message by force
He was still bleeding too, his heart was not the only source of pain
I’ll never have my 50th date in New York again.
What had been months of affection suddenly turned sour
Only for her exposed infidelity to gain repercussions in an hour

Midday

Pow Pow
Who’s that O the G
A couple of teenagers held up Maccy D’s
Yet THEY ALL didn’t notice
Heads turned like B sides of classic records
While THEY held hands and couldn’t let go
Every word had a unique echo
Surrounded by nothing but a hazy breeze
Fingers locked like keys with combinations
Strolling through the streets like Neon Unicorns
Kissing like a couple newly formed
They were yet he was in school uniform and she
Was in uniform
The world was a hive of privacy invasion teams
Eagle eyed emblazoned schemes of security
Each demanding a level of surety that their needs would be served
That criminals would not get a seat at the table of good nature
That the would be de-served and just given rough justice
Sent to join the club of life just is….
Fair to those who pay for it
Skunk smokers get their high and ball player s and singers get paid a bit
Yet Gotham never batted an eye to this game
They always met somewhere nobody knew her name
For she was the head

3pm

We’d met before
Same office same time
TFT screens flickering like day glow cats eyes
I am jacks need for attention
The sky raises its middle finger ordering me to spin on the sun
Where are you reads the IM
I knew her from the 1st Floor
She was excel spreadsheets and more
I’d not got to spread sheets but I’d opened up her pores
She wanted more of the same
Reports of salt stains on copier had lead to bacon sandwich claims
That was my insurance, this shift was endurance
I could score pants and moans
I was Jacks need for masculine validation
If I could handle hear groans with my raise I could get a raise
Earn more and afford what my wife owns
Ecstasy for a year while whispering in her ear…get me a promotion
While I give this chick the pro motion to unseen zones
Rarely working late this is my office break
Ms Excel makes me tick boxes
We go rough like foxes at it lie rabbits
She’s smoking and I can’t break the habit
Are you coming, flashes the IM again
2 minutes I reply, I will be cause I want to
I am the hunted becoming jacks need to be a hunter gathering

6pm

Mirrors, candles, bangles
Lumps, bumps and love handles check
Sky flicks her hair, summer not yet star spangled
Heck glitter falls lighting her path to her date
This was her time, he would step to her plate
This was fate
She would be lost in the moment of rapture
She would be captured in paradise lost
He would consume the cost
She would be the boss to end the dross
Defrost
She would overwhelm him like a debutant from Valhalla
Kiss him like Daryl Hannah then shun him as the steel magnolia
He would grow to love her and only her
Truth in the purest sense of the lies
He was hers not every girls prize and her eyes
She was magnetised and he would be hypnotised
Her hips, lips and mind would do the work
He’d be begging to on the front line of duty
The damned funk soldier awakened by her beauty
He’d be the one telling his friends shoot me, I’ll feel no pain

9pm

Bliss and tell to exfoliate was the aim of the game
Or so she thought laying on the bed sobbing into chow mein
Watching sex and the city with a bottle of wine
He’d rather date an expectant mum than see this fat girl crying
Could she relive that moment again when those few words stunned her
In 43 minutes and 37 seconds she’d be a blade runner for the last time
She raised a chopstick to a cosmopolitan as with soy sauce on her wall she scribed
To a swollen world
Bruised by the iniquity of confidence without consequence
This is my goodbye, my legacy and stain
Erase me with scalding bleach and remove my gain from your world
Thank you for the lessons of reflection
Now I must smash the mirror of my imperfection
Let me dissolve into fine pieces cos I’m used to be being trampled
My ample is cumbersome and too much handle so let me drown
No longer to wear the tears of a clown
I am no more

12am

Nonplussed they added vigour to the enzyme and chromosome mixture
Subtracting loyalty from royalty bestowed by significants
Whooping tongues filled the air
They were con cussed in the tenement
I don’t care was the sentiment
The pounding of their drums in the forest of lost in me
Was as a penny dropped on a slow roll
Beat up on bruise control having mastered the dong song
Left her putting the O on bong
For he gave her the down load sending her into an audio galaxy and took a napster
He deemed screams rapture as the actress in her unfurled
She became a woman at 11.59 post 69 as her body re-coiled into a curl and whispered
Is this what they call midnight in a perfect world?
Daddy

Sorry

I’m sorry that I can simplify your insecurity complex

Even though your convex hips and curves give me dreamy nerves

My endings, my cables be rendering you as my Anna of the Green Gables

I’ve got a light bulb and a spanner

Clothes shopping with you would give me more smiles than a town planner given their own island, but I’m sorry

That you wobble more than your wobbly bits even though I think you’re curvy luscious, voluptuous and tight

Even though I show you Love Jones and recite A Blues for Nina like I was your Brotha to the night

I make you wish I was white and I’m sorry

Sorry that I’m just not swag enough

Ghetto black enough,

Want to hit it but not smack you tough

Gym rat, thank you and bang you gruff

Proper English, multi-level conversation but not slang enough

Just not African, just not Yardie

More Laurel & Hardy than Gyptian and Marley

Vibing like Fugee La in our Shangri la with Hugh Masakela

Seem I’m only on your radar for my niceness,

I’m not Osiris, you’re not Isis, a great catch but not a virus

I wrote my values on papyrus, so after the file is ingested

Know that I’m sorry that you’re just not interested

You took out me out with the insurance claim that you were interested,

So I means tested and found you cared to give me a little time without your mind or true get to know you time invested

Body banging like African Drums but once the lust was digested

The connection stung and felt like a rat infested hornets nest its

Like you’re being pestered with the bug of too good to be true

Like a hair dresser to uncle Fester your head you need to rake through

Notions of sweetness, meanness, the real man bleep test

Oh you’re not a risk taker…I’m sorry

You’re a lover not a faker, I’m sorry you’re just being honest, I’m sorry

I’ve got a bee in my bonnet but a bigger engine to move on from it

So I’m Sorry

I write a love letter to the beat because I really, really be

Sorry

Sorry that I’m the just next just trying to break a hex

You’re so vex like T-Rex because of your ex so to you I’m Mr Poetic X

Buck wild instead of bucking the trend

Good company and sex hoping the cycle will end

Screw it Buck it I’m sorry

Thought you were a diamond mine, you’re a neglected quarry

Sorry, sorry I’m really sorry

I can be the lorry that hits you from the blindside

Takes you off the road have you singing when we collide

Biffy Clyro

Instead you’d rather play Spyro

Showing a little flame while you play your game and shake your Ting Tings

That’s not my middle name,

21 seconds and you’re out for fame another notch called a Victory

Smoke without fire this story really isn’t Hickory Dickory

Jackanory cock story,

Pop that booty, lock me off and ride to glory while I cry poor me

See I’m richer for the experience, exposing your interest as desperate or delirious

I’m not really weary it’s just that my truth is always serious

I’m passionately clear because I romance in deed, I really want to need but because of want I bleed

So I’m sorry

Letter To My Next

I’m hoping my writing will be delivered with perfect timing
My Body clock says it’s a late storm
But I’m hoping you’re… ready to light me
Strike me
Like lightning
Little hater inside me knows I’m ready to fight me
Step outside me, brush aside me
Take residence and step against the not like me inside me
Let you set me on fire till I’m flashing brightly
Red Yellows Blues and Greens
Open my eyes to your ocean colour scene
So that I can read between the waves and motion
Wade in the water of devotion out from the sure
Find you and float in the real and the pure
I already know you’re demure, conscious and prized
I don’t have to throw lines for you to be caught by surprise
In the rule book of life we may have played on opposite sides of the law
Straight fly we know our flaws, know where the floor is
Love knows where the door is but only shows us the key
How you and I haven’t yet met when we’re meant to be?
All I wonder is how can we decide the main verse if we don’t even know the key
Life writes the interlude then the pre
Builds us through our history and creates our future
Establishes the true you
Defines a true me
Our lines have to cross and bind till you and I become a true we
I’m blind to you but I don’t stroll in the dark
We’re just two mammals making our way to the ark
I can’t say that we will be a walk in the park
Or a stroll on the promenade
Times may get hard but I know you are rich in value
We’ve got to value OUR values or there will be hitches
I want to bless and gain blessings through your riches
No name calling. No bastards, no bitches
Lets communicate and scratch itches
Hoping you and I don’t flee
Being hitched is what its made to be
I don’t say cracked because your love mendeth me
I am softer than concrete you are my rose
The rhythm pattern in my flows
You are more precious than ivory,
I’m tall but you heighten me
You are the nightlight and the sunrise
The words of the songbird my heart is talking through
Blood sweat and tears I’ll pour for you
See laborious minds make for victorious times
The moment we step on love
We just stepped on our time
Our landmines
Lets explode together
Touch the sky as we hold the clouds
Have our eyes look up not down
Dry eyes in the midst of a frown
Already a queen already crowned
Yet I want you to have my jewel, my seal
Hold you like shore is held by the sea
Surround you like an orange is its peel
You will be the only temptress to which I yield
True love only exposes
I bring more than a ring of roses
A heart that you can’t dispose of
The strength to strengthen you all over
To be with you I’ll be luckier than the Irish in a field of clover
Intoxicated yet sober
From Timbuktu to the white cliffs of Dover everyone will know the worst kept secret
Richly in love we are meant to be that
Athletic millionaire I may not be that
Subject of my art you can’t just be that
A mere portrait to expose this poets trait you can’t just be that
You are the doctrine
I believe that
A heavenly blessing I know I’ll see that
The real love in me you unleash that
Coffee and sugar we can be that
Cos we need each other can’t you see that?
Unstoppable force meets the immovable object
To me I hope you don’t object as we court
Play ball and enjoy the heat
Love never needs to beat, compare or compete
As long as we have love, friends and family
Faith, harmony in the sanctity of matrimony
No games geared towards getting paid via alimony
Baby and then a divorce
I’m in this for life even if times we stray off course
See life is life but on judgment day when I give that account for all
I want God and all of heaven to know
I was proud on earth to have been
Yours faithfully

In Her Element

Love’s red glutton, pushed the button and watched him slip away like smoke into the night
Would she see the light, or avoid the blues, and get with ex, new shoes and sex
Would she fall in love or just vibe with the reflex

Relationships were like pornographic antidotes to true passion
Treated relations like a fashion show regular news was in fashion so
She gave head to get ahead in the race to erase him from her head
But every new man she took to bed was like a shotgun to the head
Was worth it… just to put him to bed?

She moaned publicly in the ecstasy of get with me ego centricity
In her single time she had her double ex’s to see
No new notches vehemently and evidently,
Facebook statuses would be the adverts generally
Might as well be a billboard but players play presently

Love’s red glutton, pushed the button and watched him slip away like smoke into the night
Could she see the light and avoid the blues, and get with ex, new shoes and sex
Would she fall in love of or just vibe with the reflex?

See in the time of every break up you need to make up with you
Yet at every chance she’d lace up those boobs like track shoes she had something to prove
She was running from the music that made her groove
To some dude she barely knew but made her feel rare and new
It was the feeling of real love but was it really true?

For if not now then at her blue moon,
Or when she’d tied the knot wishing she’d not come off the prowl so soon
Howling at clock demanding time in lieu, time to be blue
Time to clear mind of her true love

See her real love was a quiet gun
He made her burn like a quiet sun
She could hide behind papered cracks but she couldn’t run
Business wasn’t done, wasn’t closed
He drifted in and out of her psyche like Ebenezer scrooge’s ghosts

She wanted to cut a figure so forlorn her silhouette was torn
Love’s politics hit her like unwanted health reforms
She was not for being a transformer but this would transform her
If she was going to live she needed time to mourn her

Love’s red glutton, pushed the button and watched him slip away like smoke into the night
Could she have seen the light, or avoided the blues, and not got with the ex, new shoes and sex
Instead of falling in love just vibing with the reflex
