Substitute Lover

Valentines

Words are just words, exclusive vocab isn’t a given
Like life it’s pro created and nurtured until you can earn your own living
Make your own decisions, percolate derisions
Yet the moment they leave Christmas, they feed you new visions
A new flight path to love, for me it’s a course in collision
I recoil before the rhythm given puts a spring in my step
If it’s the thought that counts I’m a cheater in debt
Queens will put me in check
No man’s a Casanova with a King Solomon rep
It’s my heart, my mind, love equality no dominion
So to say the same words that have been said to a billion different women
I wouldn’t be surprised if she wasn’t really feeling them
If love is a lightbulb and electricity fills the filament
The voltage will be different for every individual
The switch may have been physical, or the completion of a circuit
If you’re creating a new heir with them, I’m hoping you feel they’re worth it
The next 364 I’m hoping that you persist
Tell them I love you in a way without the purse strings
See when Easter comes around with eggs and resurrection
I hope they’re a deeper level in your dreams
The 14th was no inception, deception
A touch of building maintainenance, not a temporary erection
Making music is nice but if you sing with no inflection
You can’t expect to decorate the inner sanctum if you disrespect the architecture
Your connection with your world ain’t based on your record collection
The groove you get when your need’s in tune with the belief you’re the best bet
Certainly not a gamble, it shouldn’t be chapter, let alone preamble
Drake said find your love, I say write your own song
Don’t make valentines a substitute for when the thrill of just chilling is gone
